Event Coverage: Loring Timing Association 2009 Meet

Land Speed Racing officially exists in Maine with the successful completion of the Loring Timing Association’s inaugural 2009 event. Held on a 2.5 mile runway formerly used to launch and receive strategic bombers, the racers and spectators had nothing but great things to say about the course and the event itself.

Motorcycles outnumbered cars big time and some two wheeled terrors were all the way out from California! You can get the full results at the Loring Timing Association website.

BangShift.com forum member Tony “The Caveman” Maffini attended the event (making a 12 hour drive in his ’56 Chevy pickup) and zapped a bunch of photos of cars in the pits and on the course. Along with his stuff we’ve mixed in a couple others we dug up from the web in this gallery.

You can also find more info and photo links in this thread in our forum section.
