2012 Canfield Swap Meet: BS Approved Cars and Stuff Gallery

(Photos by John Milk) – BangShifter John Milk hit the 2012 Canfield Swap Meet in Canfield, Ohio with his camera, too much cash, and all the good intentions in the world to take photos, buy a couple of small items, and not send his wife into low Earth orbit. He succeeded in taking the photos, and he shared them with us, which is greatness. John eschewed the rows of Camaros and Mustangs and used his precious digital film for only BangShift approved coolness and weirdness in the car corral and other areas of the meet.

The Canfield Swap meet has been going on for years and like Carlise and other massive events (think Long Beach on the west coast), it has a devoted following of seller and shoppers. There were some very cool cars for sale in the car corral and we’re feeling more and more attracted to late 1970s F-bodied, Pontiac Can Ams, Oldsmobiles, and Buicks than we ever have. There’s nothing wrong with the traditional 1964-1972 muscle cars, but we’re definitely entering a new era of hot rodding/BangShifting where the old rules of what is “cool” are changing by the minute!

Thanks to John for the photos and we hope he is not sleeping on a cot in his shop for long!

’69 Pontiac Catalina in white; except for the color, it’s my exact first car. Man, I miss it. 400 w/Turbo 400 and 3.89 gears. All power. Nice car. NICE car!

I’m digging the 69 Chevy wagon.
Pontiac Can Am trivia…they expected to build 2500, but they got orders for over 5000. Production stopped at 1377 units when the mold for the rear spoiler broke.
