(Photos by Bob Chiluk) –Â From awesome muscle cars still crusted in a layer of dirt and dust from the barns they were extracted from, to incredibly rare and restored race cars, detroit iron, and hot rods, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show that’s held each year outside of Chicago has established itself as one of the premier car shows in the country and we were there as it all happened last weekend. The event has always been about getting the neatest cars that Detroit built together under one roof but we’e just amazed at how each and every year show organizers manage to find these amazing barn cars or ultra rare, low production number muscle cars to highlight. We’re also blown away by how many guys are now pulling cars out of barns and not so much as even washing the dirt off of them.
Bob Chiluk shot the photos that are at the link below. He was blown away at the show by cars like the very first production line Camaro even produced, and some of the race cars like Ohio George’s twin turbo Boss 429 Mustang that terrorized drag strips in the early 1970s before the NHRA told him to park it. It looks like Bob may have climbed in through a hole in the roof before other people were allowed in because most of his photos were shot without people crowded around the cars. It is our understand that just as the cool cars increase each and every year, so does the attendance. We know that we’re jealous of Bob’s experience here!
This is the first of a couple photo collections we have from the event, enjoy!

That Boss 429 drag car found with it’s original Ford hauler after 40 years of sitting is wild.
I knew one of the Lambrecht Chevy cars would show up soon.
Hey Scott, that wasn’t the only barn find Boss 429! There was a Grabber Blue, low miler with dirt in the Boss 429 (one of every color) display.
where is all this stuff getting dug up??????!!!!!!!
Happy to hear you guys enjoyed the Barn Finds section this year! It was a real joy putting it together.
