(Photos by Joe Grippo) – It is interesting how some events manage to rise above the din of the automotive world and establish roots that continue to grow year after year. There are lots of Ford themed drag races around the country but few of them have the following, cache, and interest level of the yearly FE Race and Reunion event at Beaver Springs Dragway in Pennsylvania. Grippo has been going for years and for good reason. The guy is a Ford freak to the core and the cars that populate the track, the pits, and the car show area are some of the best blue oval performance machines ever created.
The FE engine family has gotten a lot more respect from the greater hot rodding community in recent years. They can be built to make crazy power and they had a long run in a variety of displacements and performance levels. Powering everything from station wagons to top fuel dragsters, the FE is a neat piece that now has the aftermarket support it deserves. From headers to heads, intakes, cams, and bottom end components, you can have your FE and make it stomp, too.
This is one of the best celebrations of Ford performance and history you’ll ever see!

The orange SOHC Starliner belongs to John Vermeesch the owner of Total Performance. The first time I saw this car was at a Ford show in Dearborn, MI, 30 years ago. It still looks the same. Waited around to hear it leave, was surprisingly quiet.
