Much like the days prior, I was up not only before the sun, but before the free breakfast at the hotel, slamming a Red Bull and getting ready for what was going to be a solid day of awesomeness. I’ve heard all of the tales about how packed Woodward Avenue gets once the Dream Cruise kicks off, so in order to avoid that cluster…and to get into the Modern Street Hemi Shootout’s parking lot with minimal trouble…I left right when the sun was just cresting the treetops. Surely, there would only be minimum traffic on The Loop at seven in the morning, right? Wrong. So very wrong…not only were cars already cruising up the road, but I’m pretty sure I got to witness a one-car police chase, along with the other campers along the avenue.
