The interesting thing about SCTA Bonneville Speed Week is that cars come and go during the entire length of the event. Since tech opened late last week, race cars have been showing up from all corners of the USA and Canada to give the world’s coolest natural race track a run for its money. Traffic was relatively slow on the course during Monday competition hours as some racers are waiting for the ever changing salt conditions to become more favorable to their cars and trucks. As has happened since the first day of competition, the impound area is full of record qualified cars that’ll run for SCTA honors in the morning. Streamliners largely stayed parked in the pits all day with a couple exceptions, but there are now a bunch of heavy duty players that will spend the rest of the week vying for the vaunted Hot Rod Magazine Top Time Trophy at the end of the meet. It is the Poteet and Main Speed Demon leading that pack with a 430mph run, but there are at least three other cars capable of besting that number…maybe more.
