(Words and Photos by Tommy Lee Byrd) – If you didn’t get enough from the Chattanooga Cruise In yesterday, then we’ll make sure you get the proper dosage today. The crew at Coker Tire managed to wrangle nearly 1,000 cars into the Chattanooga area, and you won’t believe all the cool stuff that rolled in off the street. Our buddies at Powermaster and Rocket Racing Wheels visited the Chattanooga Cruise In and joined the fun.
The bonus coverage includes more crazy stuff that you would never see at a normal cruise night. Along with several hundred hot rods, muscle cars and classic pickups, we spotted some extraordinary combinations, such as a Jeep drag machine, a wickedly low T-bucket with a carbureted LS engine and a Henry J gasser. If you can find it in the sea of pictures, the stealthy gray 4th generation Trans Am has a Procharged stroker LS engine and runs 5’s in the eighth mile. And he drove it to the cruise in.
The Chattanooga Cruise In had a lot to offer, and Tommy Lee Byrd ran around like a mad man to cover the event, and hang out with all of his buddies who show up. The late night photo shoot at Honest Charley Speed Shop involved Jason Murrell’s slammed Caddy, Jonathan Sharpe’s freakin’ killer second generation Camaro and Kevin King’s oh-so clean Buick GS. Thrown in the mix are a few shots of TLB’s ’64 Corvette, which never fails to make Corvette purists weep.
