Car Show Gallery: The Mooneyes Open House and Car Show 2012

Mooneyes is synonymous with cool cars, racing, customs, and all things hot rodding, and has been a staple in the industry since the ’50s. This weekend they once again opened their original Santa Fe Springs location, to the public, so that we could check out the inner workings of their shop, along with the cool cars, bikes, and racecars that they have on site. BangShift.com was on hand to take it all in, and we’ve got a bunch of cool photos for you to check out. Hell, the thing was so big, and the place is so small, that there were cars parked up and down the street, in the parking lot of the toilet sales place across the road, and anywhere else they could fit!

One thing we were surprised to see was the tools and equipment to actually spin aluminum! I know that sounds funny, but we assumed all the parts were made off site. We are sure they aren’t making every Moon Disc in the original Santa Fe Springs location, but it was cool to see that they are still making some of them there. Spinning aluminum is as much art as anything else, and we dig it.

The most shocking car we saw once we got there was this crazy bubble top “something” that was on air, totally custom, and looked like either end could be the front. One of the most radical customs we’ve seen in forever, and it was driven in the show and out.
