Cynthiana Rod Run Coverage: It Looks Like Every Hot Rod In Kentucky Was There

Cynthiana Rod Run Coverage: It Looks Like Every Hot Rod In Kentucky Was There

(Words and Photos by Doug Gregory) –  This was the Third Annual Rod Run in Cynthiana and proved this is an event growing in popularity and participation.  Some estimates claimed 1,000 cars, but having gotten there a bit late on Saturday I’d guess-timate  at that time between 600-800 cars were lining several city blocks in Historic Cynthiana.  Attempts were made to collect as many photos as possible, but many vehicles spied from a distance moved by the time they could be reached only to be spotted again cruising around.

Long shadows and bright sunlight also spoiled many shots and that is my own fault for deciding to get some last-minute work done on the car before piling the family in and heading over.  There were food vendors (some awesome BBQ), a small swap meet, games for the kids, and many of the local businesses were open and rolled out the red carpet for the throngs of gearheads and onlookers.   If you like everything from muscle cars to street rods to old haulers (even some tractors) I’d suggest looking up this event and make every effort to attend.  If nothing else the drive there is picturesque as you pass through the rolling hills of central Kentucky.  The rod run is scheduled for August 22 and 23 this year and word has it the event will be bigger than ever.

(Editor’s note: These photos are from the 2013 event but we’re going to be at the 2014 event to show you all the cool junk that shows up there, too!)
