El Mirage Coverage – Great Images From The Final Meet Of The 2014 SCTA Racing Season

El Mirage Coverage – Great Images From The Final Meet Of The 2014 SCTA Racing Season

(PHOTOS BY TEACH) – When I got a note from pal o’ BangShift Teach telling me that he had some cool photos from the final meet of the SCTA season at El Mirage dry lake bed I got all excited. Why? Well it is always awesome to look into the land speed racing world and we have not run a ton of El Mirage coverage over the years. Lots of racers out west compete at El Mirage and only at El Mirage so there are cars and cool iron that we have never seen before in this gallery which is always a thrill. It is funny how this couple week stretch in November is where everything in the world of racing seems to wrap at the same time. NASCAR, NHRA, SCTA, and virtually every other racing outfit has some lash hurrah for the year and then packs it in for the winter. Some of those series are off longer than others. For the NHRA it is 80 days until Pomona for the SCTA it is a longer stretch before racing resumes for the group on May 16-17, 2015.

Have fun checking out Teach’s handiwork on the dry lake because there are a bunch of unique race cars, tow rigs, and things we’re still trying to classify as something recognizable. As we mentioned above the creativity and brilliance of competitors in the land speed realm is virtually unmatched in any other form of racing. It extends far deeper than just the race car. We can promise you that. You’ll see that the Challenger II of Danny Thompson made a cameo appearance on the way back from SEMA as well. Danny did not race but stopped by the hang out and get once last whiff of competition until next year.

The weekend was epic with near perfect weather. Many records were broken. Perfect thing to do after the SEMA show IMO (seeing some real cars and bikes doing exactly what they were made to do)!
