Grand National Roadster Show 2012: 500 Plus Photos

Grand National Roadster Show 2012: 500 Plus Photos

The Grand National Roadster Show is the longest running indoor car show in America, and we have been going since we were kids. Sure, it moved from Oakland 9 years ago, but it’s still the Grand National, and that means home to the AMBR, America’s Most Beautiful Roadster, Award. The 2012 Grand National Roadster Show is not just about beautiful roadsters though as the Pomona Fairplex finds itself full off customs, hot rods, race cars, traditionals, rat rods, and more. Plus, on Saturday morning hundreds of hot rods and street machines roll in the gate to fill the Fairplex grounds.

It broke my heart when they left Oakland. I went for the first time in about 1968.
    I don’t know how many times since….Many.
We always referred to it as the “Oakland Roadster Show”.
To me, that’s what it will always be.
I won’t go to LA, but thanks for posting the great photos!

Yea I hear you, the first time I went their I lived in Grants Pass Ore. and was down doing work in Sacramento. I was reminded of the show by a fellow Street Rod builder and friend Rick Northcutt. We went to the show but to our amassment the show was being held out side in a huge tent. Not really heart broken because it was all about the cars and people we loved to see. The support of not only the southern Californians, but all from around the country should be appreciated for all the years, past support. The Grand national Roadster show is a phenomenal successes from all the past participants. The term Oakland Roadster Show is slang for the real name Grand National Roadster Show. It is still the same show no matter where it is. The contract in Oakland was given up because of the greed of the city who wanted more money from the show. Well, pooh, pooh on that, so the show was moved to an other appropriate site that could sponsor such a wonderful show. It would be of great apparition for all the northern supporters to participate still in the same show that even the same southern cal, did when the show was held in the city of Oakland cal. So the question is of real importance for all to understand, is it a good reason to not support and not to go to the Grand National Show just because it had to move, the southern Cal. People gave their support to the show for over 40 plus years and now when the need to support! Robert MacConnell you drop the ball in favor of your own personal narrow minded one sided perspective Come one ,lets all be supportive of the greatest show of our hobby has ever seen. OK that is my one sided opinion. So have at me My friend. Sincerely, Lance OH and one more thing I have countless number of friends who for all those years supported the cause. Please do the same, its still the same show, The Great, Gand National Roadster Show. Never the Oakland Roadster show !
