The Hunnert Car Pileup has been held in Decatur Illinois for the last 10 years, and 2011 marks the end of an era. When the newly formed Chrome Czars Car Club decided they were going to put on an event back in 2001, they had no clue what they were starting. In only 10 years, the Hunnert Car has become one of the must attend car shows in the country, and no billet or modern rides are allowed. Our pal Josh Russell has been a member of the Czars for years, and told us early in 2011 that this would be the last because it has just grown so big that it’s no longer feasible for this little club to put it on. Plus, if you are working that hard you can’t have any fun! Thankfully new BangShift.com contributor Dom, of DRD Photos, was kind enough to attend and get us some photos.
You’ve seen Dom’s work a couple times this week as we have shown you his Byron Power Wheelstand coverage as well as his Hot Rod Drag Week bonus galleries. We coudn’t do what we do around here without great guys like Dom, Joe Grippo, Scott Liggett, and more. It’s been cool as hell getting to know Dom the last few weeks, and we are working to get more like him to help us bring you even more show and race coverage in 2012. Hell, Dom just finished road tripping from Chicago to Georgia for one of the coolest small tire races in the country. We’ll have his photos from that starting Monday so stay tuned.

I think I saw a rat rod.
The Hunnert Car Pileup has been held in Decatur, Illinois for the last two years, not ten. Previous to 2010 it had been held in Morris, Illinois.
I’m really bummed that this was the last show. I’ve wanted to attend for years but haven’t been able to.
