The Keystone Nationals, held at the scenic and spacious Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania, is one of the biggest and baddest events on the NHRA circut. BangShift.com forum member Joe Grippo attended the 2009 event and got some great images from the stands and in the pits. If you are a lover of the digs, these photos of wheels-up action and great race cars are a must see.

The race was marked by some controversial comments by Warren Johnson and some issues with “weepers” on the track, which are small puddles of water that push through the asphalt on the track that need to be dried. Lots of rain raises the water table and sunlight heats the asphalt on the track, causing a wicking effect. The result is a bunch of annoyed racers and tired track personnel.
