Event Gallery: 2015 Somernites Cruises – The Orphans Of The Automotive World Come Out For The Friday Night Block Party

Event Gallery: 2015 Somernites Cruises – The Orphans Of The Automotive World Come Out For The Friday Night Block Party

The 2015 Somernites Cruise season has begun! The town of Somerset, Kentucky hosts one car show a month from now until October and to kick the new year off right, the theme for this month was “Orphan Makes”…any and every car that whose manufacturer no longer exists was welcomed to come out and show off with the usual bevy of street machines that descend upon Somerset. The weather may have scared off some participants, but for those that stuck around for Friday night’s block party at the Somerset Mall, the scene was it’s usual self, which is to say there was a great selection of iron to mull over, plenty of friendly people to chat with, a band playing, food and drink available, a loud pipes contest and plenty more, including a curious paraglider! If you haven’t made your way out to Somerset for one of these shows, you should. Each month has a different theme but anything is welcomed in.

Additionally, and coincidentally, this is the show where they show off the Somernites Cruise giveaway car, and this year’s car is a beauty:

somernites orph 1549 somernites orph 1550This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is a 383/automatic car that is ready to roll, and it comes with a Gatormade 20′ car trailer! Don Marshall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Nissan and Gatormade Trailers sponsor the deal, so if you’re around and could use another hot rod and a car trailer, get yourself entered in the drawing, which will be held in October at the final Somernites cruise of the year!

I love that Comet! Most people would have painted the tail light panel black. It looks great body color. something to consider when I paint my Montego.
