For the first time in the history of the event The Hot Rod Revolution was held in Austin, Texas this year. After gaining a great reputation in Southern California, event organizers decided to switch it up and the results were a spectacular show in Texas. Charles Wickam was on hand for BangShift to shoot photos of the entrants and he delivered nearly 200 great shots.
This show was wall to wall packed with traditional rods. There were few, if any cars we’d throw into the rat rod genre, and there were more flatheads in one spot that we’ve seen in a long time. Dig the photos of vintage speed parts, too. Those pieces of equipment really get us going because it is just so improbable that a part bolted to a car more than half a century ago would still be around and useful today.
Austin, Texas is a cool city and definitely marches to the beat of another drum than the rest of Texas. It is pretty obvious that the rodding scene there is cool because of the amount of great stuff Charles shot at this show.
