(Photos by Bill Fowler) – The American Street Car Series is a cool group that puts on a great series of events aimed at Pro Touring cars all over the country. As they have in years past, the event season kicked off with the Run to the Coast event held at the vacated El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in California. The multi-faceted, multi-day event pitted some of the coolest Pro Touring rides in the country against one another in friendly competitions that tested their abilities to accelerate, turn, stop, and cruise the open road. BangShifter Bill Fowler was on hand with his double throw down, bad ass Mustang and he zapped a nice gallery of photos featuring lots of the cars that showed up to do battle at El Toro.
As you’ll see in the gallery, there was a great variety of iron there. That being said, the popularity of first and second generation Camaros and Firebirds cannot be denied. We think they look great all hunkered down with big rubber at the corners. The people who think that pro touring cars are all about massive wheels and bling city need to check this gallery out. It is all about proportion, balance, and scienced out components to make these old school cars burn corners like modern day exotics.
In April, we are going to bring you full bore coverage of the “Run to the Shore” even being held in New Jersey. This stuff looks like BIG FUN!
Thanks to Bill Fowler for hooking us up with the photos!
