(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Last week we were blasting you with photos from Fleming’s Junkyard in Egg Harbor, NJ and espousing the virtues of the yearly Pumpkin Run show that is held at the venue each year. Well, we’re tapped out of junkyard photos so now we have the show stuff to delve into and it is the most crazily diverse show we have ever brought you to and that’s saying something. How can we make such a claim? Well in this first blast of photos that you will see there are vintage wreckers, one of AJ Foyt’s Indy cars, muscle cars, stock cars, and more. Remember, this is the FIRST of several photos blasts we have from this event, so settle in for a week of awesome straight from Grippo’s camera. Oh, and he had some things to say about this deal as well.
Here’s Joe’s notes from the event:
1. Rain postponed it a week but did not hamper the attendance or enthusiasm.
2. As always variety was front and center with Rat Rods, Muscle Cars, Tractors, Big Rigs, Classics, Race Cars, Pick-Ups, Vans, Motorcycles and even a steam car in the house.
3. Ray Evernham, a south Jersey native sent up 3 choice cars from his collection to be part of the show. A.J Foytís #14 Gilmore Indy Car, a Jeff Gordon Lumina and a ’37 Ford Coupe Modified powered by a 427 FE Ford raced by the Wood Brothers in the mid-sixties.
4. There is so much to check out at this deal it is tough to see it all. We were only able to spend short stints at the Lawn tractor Pull and the Hit and Miss motor displays.
5. I spent the last few hours of the day, much to my frozen wifeís chagrin, exploring the onsite junkyard and marveling at the rusty hulks returning slowing the earth. It is really my favorite part of the event.
