(Words and photos by Bad Brad’s Speed Shots) – It’s still winter in the Heartland, so what’s a race starved gearhead to do? Car shows always help a weekend go by, right? Well, for this one we headed down the turnpike to T-Town to take in Darryl Starbird’s 50th Anniversary Car Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and weren’t disappointed. Not only did this event feature some ultra cool custom show cars, bitchin street rods, both drag bikes and boats, but also a very nice collection of full on drag cars too. In traditional 1950s flair a weekend long Pin Up Contest was also held. Pretty ladies and gorgeous iron on the exhibition floor is always the perfect combination to help get any action starved car guy through until it’s time to go racing again. So, while we’d much rather be at the track than at a static car display, the Starbird Show gave us that much needed boost over the winter hump and on to opening day at the strip. See you at the drags. – Bad Brad
Kinda sad that there don’t seem to be any kids customizing late models any more.
