(Words and photos by Joe Grippo) – Well, it was a hit and miss weekend at the 2013 Carlisle All Ford Nationals. More of a hit, really. Rain killed most of Friday including my favorite activity, the Friday Night Drags at Quarter Aces. Saturday dawned bright and sunny and the Ford folks came to Carlisle en masse.
Loads of Fairlanes, Mavericks, Torinos, F-series, Econolines, Lincolns, Cougars and a few Mustangs filled up the spacious fairgrounds with both modified and stock examples. There was some cool stuff tucked into manufactures midway displays like and eight second Mustangs from Evolution Performance out of Delaware and Ford tuner Johnny Lightning had his ’13 Cobra Jet Super Stocker along with his insane Lightning Truck attracting crowds all day. Ford Racing was showing the ECO Boost Rally Focus, legendary outfit Holman-Moody was showcasing their new 50th Anniversary victory of the Tour de France Automobile Rally Mustang, which commemorates the first professional win of the Ford Mustang (which utilized HM race prepping).
Vaughn Gittin, Jr had his Monster Energy Drink road tour there showing off his Drifting skills and his killer Mustangs. Hi-Po 289 powered Fords were the headliners out in the Dealership building and featured some totally cool Comets, sweet Shelbys, fabulous Fairlanes and magnificent Mustangs on display. Check out the perfect recreation of the Pomona and Indy winning D/S Li’l Lord Fotus….
Good Stuff! Can’t wait for next year…..
not much of a ford guy but some really cool rides in there like the copper 63 fairlane and pro street grabber green torino…also is it wrong of me to want that blown ltd II as much as i do…
The Grabber Green Torino is a local car from the Toronto area, blown Boss 429-based engine … always a head-turner at the cruise nights here!
That’s my Yellow Gold 72 Gran Torino wagon to my surprise I took 1st in 62-76 Fairlane/Torino Modified and now there is a big commotion that my car was picked over that Blown Grabber Green Torino and the Copper Fairlane.
I didn’t even vote, the particpants voted for my wagon as i’m in process of making it a panel wagon and the other side had the window removed and welded up.with sheet metal.
Are those 2 cars really nice? yes they are but the votes were in my favor and i’m still shocked but i’ll take it
An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a co-worker who was conducting a little research on this. And he actually ordered me lunch due to the fact that I found it for him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending time to discuss this subject here on your site.
