(Photos by Charles Wickam) – The other day we showed you Houston Autorama load-in day photos by Charles Wickam and today we kick off a multi-day tour of the show that our man on the scene shot. Hot rodding has evolved to the point that we have some great traditions in the hobby and one of them is the Houston Autorama. For as long as anyone can remember, hot rodders and car lovers in the Houston area have been able to depend on the huge indoor show to keep their winterized automotive hopes alive. As part of the Autorama series of shows that canvasses the USA over the colder months in North America there are notable cars in this show that you have undoubtedly seen before along with lots of local iron that you have never seen.
Among the highlights of the Autorama shows are the appearances by legendary Gene Winfield who chops at lot of tops at these events with the help of local ‘rodders and fabricators. People may not appreciate how lucky they are to be able to interact with Winfield and his ilk but the reality is that Gene continues to pound the pavement and preach the metal working gospel to those that are young and old at these events. Make sure that you take the time to see Gene and his work at the Autorama show by you. Missing the chance to see one of the greatest custom car builders and painters who ever lived is something you’ll regret for a long time. Don’t be that guy!
