When our buddy Zane McNary, of LandSpeedPhotos.com, sent us an email after last weekend’s SCTA Meet at El Mirage, asking if we wanted photos from the event, my only respose was “Duh!!!”. We love land speed racing around here, and the dirt of El Mirage is probably some of the most prestigious. And as most of the veterans can tell you, it is a much more challenging place to race than the famed salt at Bonneville.
The dirt at El Mirage is nasty. It’s virtually baby powder in consistency, and it gets into every available spot on a race car and causes all kinds of problems. When you leave El Mirage you have dirt in places you didn’t know could ever actually need washing. It’s so wrong, it’s right. In so many ways. We love it.
