The Fastest Kenworth in Australia – Video From Australia’s Speed Week 2025 At The Remote Outback’s Lake Gairdner

If you are a land speed racer or land speed racing fan, you’ve probably heard of Lake Gairdner in Australia, a huge salt flats out in the middle of nowhere. If not, then here’s the deal. Lake Gairdner is giant. It is 36 times larger than the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah which is why so many people want to go race there from all over the world. At one point, David Freiburger and Keith Turk sent their Camaro to Australia to go after some 200 mph Club memberships. David went back and raced another car a few years later there as well. And from everything I’ve heard, from people that race there, is that Lake Gairdner is out in the middle of nowhere. It might have changed in recent years, but there were no hotels or services anywhere around it back then.

Video Description:

In a remote corner of outback Australia, ROADBOSS meets Rob Waters and his W-Model Kenworth, which holds the record for the fastest truck in the open-diesel category.

With speeds reaching over 140mph, we wanted to see it take action, on the salt flats of Lake Gairdener.
