When it comes to building high end hot rods and customs, the shop that builds them, are usually the ones that get all the attention. Sometimes the painter and interior guy get some love, but there are often some really important contributions that come from folks who don’t get much attention. We’re talking about the folks that detail the wheels, polish the paint, chrome or polish parts, and sometimes the guy or gal that does the pinstriping or graphics on the car. But whether they get any public credit or not, make no mistake that their contributions can make or break a car that is going after awards like America’s Most Beautiful Roadster or The Ridler.

Dennis Ricklefs is a man who was on a mission. As a young boy, his life would be changed by coming in contact with a California grown 1957 Chevy. After moving to California and getting the guidance of some legendary car builders, he learned at a young age that with a lot of hard work you can accomplish anything you want.

On this episode we sit down and talk about how a hard working car painter became a “name” in the hot rod world. Known for his subdued pin-striping and signature “flames”, he crafted a name for himself that won’t be soon forgotten, and we learn that age never stops your passion for something you love.
