Lonestar Round Up 2014 – Donuts, Shop Tours, And Awesome Times In Austin

(Words and  photos, Charles Wickam) –  We started the second day of our Lonestar Round Up 2014 adventure out at Round Rock Doughnuts. The place has been all over tv on shows featured by the  Travel Channel, Food Channel, etc. We then had a driver’s meeting which was a first for me. After that the “leadership” handed out maps. Our first stop was Hot Rods of Andice, Andice is a tiny little town north west of Austin out in the country. They’ve built some spectacular cars, particularly  a brown ’33 that has won some major awards. The shop is currently building a contender for the 2015 Detroit Autorama Ridler Award. We’re talking an incredible all one-off car and no photos were allowed to be taken. Believe it or not, three employees of the shop were positioned around the car that was being built in a seperate room to make sure no one even had a cell phone in their hands let alone holding a camera. I was threatened with bodily harm if my camera was even remotely pointed in the general direction and these guys were not kidding!

Our second stop was Cimtex Rod and Custom which is a small shop about 30-minutes east of wherever the hell we were. A two brother team with a small crew makes up the muscle in this shop and they are putting out some highly detailed cars. Builds that Cimtex has completed have been feature cars. These guys build high end drivers to be driven and enjoyed, which is the BangShift Approved method. Yes, these was supposed to be a third stop but we were super antsy to get to the show so we hit the dusty trail and high tailed it into Austin. Now the real fun begins at the Lonestar Round Up 2014.
