I’m on the ground at the MoparNats at National Trail Raceway in Ohio and…well, I’m in awe. If there is a Mopar product you enjoy, it’s here. That’s just it. It’s here. AMCs as well. I’ve been running around clicking off photos of just about anything that wasn’t moving, and we haven’t even began to scratch the surface of what’s out there in the show fields, let alone the cars racing, the gigantic swap meet, or any of the other things that I had to pass by to make sure we got photos. There is one thing I did do…I stood in line, did the song and dance, and got to go on the Dodge Hellcat experience. Just from the passenger’s seat…holy shit. I’ve never ridden in a car that not only begs to be thrown around like a rag doll, but is so effortless in it’s execution! And the cars that FCA is using for the event have side pipes like a NASCAR racer, just behind the B-pillar on the Chargers and near the rear of the door opening on the Challengers. That noise is intoxicating. How do we get Angry Grandpa to sound like that?!
This first gallery is from the “For Fun” show field and the car corral. There’s some really neat rides for sale, but my personal lust (at least at the time of writing) is the Spirit AMX with the 401 swap and the Hurst-shifted four-speed. $8,900 isn’t cheap, but for what it is, I’d pay it all day long. I’ll be shooting more tomorrow and will have plenty of coverage throughout the week, so be sure to watch Facebook for our live videos and check back for more from the 2016 MoparNats!
