NDRL Fall Classic 2019 Gallery: Classic Action As The Leaves Fall In Kentucky

It seems that the autumn season is making up for some lost time here in Western Kentucky. We’ve been enjoying a prolonged summer-like feeling right up until yesterday morning, when the clouds settled in, the temperatures went down about ten degrees, and I actively noticed the leaves falling from the trees in large numbers. With breezes blowing through, I made my way to Beech Bend to catch some of the Nostalgia Drag Racing League’s Fall Classic, the sixth and final race for their 2019 season. With the Straight-Axle Mafia in tow, it’s an all-classic affair on the quarter mile and for Beech Bend, it’s nothing but mineshaft air. With a cold front moving through Friday afternoon, the racers ran through their qualifiers before the rain started to fall. Once the rain moves through, it’s going to be nearly forty degrees cooler than before, and it should be clear and sunny too. The action will be good and we’ll be there snapping photos, so if you enjoy classic machines ruling the roost, stay tuned…nothing newer than 1979 here. Well, except the photographer, anyways…
