A couple years ago if you told us that people would fill the grandstands just to see a dragsters fire up and idle, we’d have called BS. We would have been way wrong. The Cackle Fest events, where vintage nitro cars are fired up in large packs with header flames glowing at night, have become a mainstream attraction. If there was ever a big daddy Cackle Fest, the one at the 2009 California Hot Rod Reunion was it.
Reports said there were 80 to 95 cars there for the Cackle, and we didn’t count, but there were a LOT. Dave McClelland even told us that he never would have seen this coming even from last year. BangShift.com was there with live feed video, but we also got some pictures for our event coverage.
