(Words and photots by Tommy Lee Byrd)- This past Saturday, Tommy Lee Byrd blasted out a bunch of great photos of the Chattanooga Cruise In. It’s an event created by the folks at Coker Tire Company, and they have really stepped it up, creating an awesome destination for car guys. The Chattanooga Cruise In proved to be a killer event with nearly 1,000 cars, and at least 5,000 spectators roaming what is affectionately known as Corkyville.
Sometimes car shows and cruise nights all start running together, especially if you stay local. Same cars, same parking spots, same crowd. Well, we’re here to tell you that the Chattanooga Cruise In breaks the mold and offers one of the biggest and coolest cruise in events in the Southeast. We saw some of the craziest hot rods, all packed into the streets surrounding Coker Tire and Honest Charley Speed Shop in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Tommy Lee Byrd shot the event in its entirety and sent us a big bunch of photos, so we’re splitting it into two galleries chock full of must-see hot rods, customs and muscle cars. First is the weathered F-100 sitting super low over a set of old school big truck wheels, with a turbo diesel under the hood. Stare at it for a minute. Okay, next is the Model A sedan with a 820ci Jon Kaase Ford Hemi strapped to it…you may have seen this one before, but it’s worth repeating. Another notable Model A is the crazy low sedan owned by David Coker of Rocket Racing Wheels. Then there is the in-your-face Volkswagen Beetle built by the crazy guys at Hudlow Axle. It has a Hayabusa engine, air suspension, and cheater slicks…and it rules.
Look for bonus photos from the Chattanooga Cruise In tomorrow, but for now hit the link and see the insane stuff that came out for the event.
