(Words and Photos by Tommy Lee Byrd) – The first weekend of August has been the time for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals for quite some time. It’s one of the biggest car shows in the country, and it’s held at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville. You can usually bet on seeing 10,000 hot rods and muscle cars in attendance, and a few hundred of your favorite vendors inside the Expo building. This year, more than ever, offered lots of interesting combinations. Of course, we photographed several iconic ’32 Fords, and the like, but the weird stuff always catches our attention.
So, as we walked the aisles, we spotted stuff like a ’55 Chevy dirt track carturned street car, a freakin’ crazy train truck thing and an AMC Hornet station wagon gasser just to name a few. Just to make sure you look at this gallery, we’ll also let you know that there’s a super slick Ford Pinto with a Grand National turbo V6 engine, gassers everywhere we turned, and a barrage of wicked traditional hot rods.

When did this event start allowing post-1948 cars? I must not have been paying attention.
Great shots as usual Tommy.
