George Cross and Sons have been putting on the Pomona Swap Meet for decades. Their radio ads say they are, “The Southern California Original”. The swap meet’s size and reach are unprescedented in the gearhead world. It’s literally known across the planet. As for size, they have over 3000 vendor spaces and at least 5000 parking spaces in the car corals. Yes, that’s plural. In the shadow of the famed Pomona Raceway’s drag strip, they have separate parking for Pre 75 classics, Pre ’59 classics, hot rods, customs, Pre ’75 VW’s, Any year Corvettets, and Any year Porsches. After walking every vendor row and throughout the whole car coral we needed a ride back to our own car. Our legs felt like lead when we finally flopped behind the wheel of our ride home.
We know we haven’t covered Pomona yet this summer and knew we’ve been remiss in getting coverage to all you BangShifters. Since Chad was sweating on asignment in Chicago last weekend, we told our other SoCal reporter, Scott Liggett he had to get up with the chickens and check out Pomona for all of us. He took his camera and took over 150 pictures for your viewing pleasure. Check them out!
