“If we can make the drive I think we can pull off another 9.50 and put the win away.” That’s a confident Jay Brown as he wraps his Thursday, Day 4 diary of his adventures at Hot Rod Drag Week V with his SOHC-engined 1964 Galaxie. The big car put down another 9.52 pass today, this time even faster at 151 mph.
Jay wrote that his nearest competitor ran 9.66 today, so he’d have to beat the Galaxie by 3 tenths tomorrow to take the win in Modified Naturally Aspirated. So it seems a lock…but at Drag Week, it’s never over until it’s over!
