Modern design is a dastardly thing. When you look at all the cars in this gallery, all the awesome iron that you will see from wall to wall here, just think about how cool it had to have been to be among the people that actually put pen to paper and then shaped clay to see these machines come to life. Today there are so many rules regulating what the designers are creating that they are literally fighting there way through an every tightening box like the hero in a movie stuck in a room with walls closing in. The shapes and forms that were used in the 1940s and 1950s are amazing. The fact that we had the ability to shape steel like that in volume and today’s cars are basically bread box shaped cubes on wheels kind of blows, but that’s why we love this stuff, right?
Shows like Viva Last Vegas are important not just because they bring hot rodders together but because it will be from their presence that the guys and girls designing cars in 20 years will be inspired. Not every kid catches the car bug but we can bet that every kid that attends an event like Viva Las Vegas totally do!
