One of the coolest and most significant magazine project cars of the last decade is hitting the auction block. Hot Rod Magazine’s “Hot Rod 1” 1969 Camaro was the first car ever completed with a Dynacorn reproduction body, it uses one of the three test mule Ram Jet ZL-1 engines GM built, and is filled with prototype and test parts from some of the biggest names in the aftermarket.
It is interesting to think about how valuable the first ever reproduction of something, especially a car, is, but this one represents some cool history. Outside of leading the way to what has become an explosion of reproduction bodies (Camaros, Trucks, Chevelles, Mustangs, etc) it also embraced the then emerging Pro Touring movement and combines a modern stance with nice wheels to create a look that is pretty much timeless in our eyes. This car will hold up 20 years from now in the looks department.
As far as the new parts that came to life on this car, were talking about prototype SSBC brakes, a prototype Keisler bellhousing, prototype Budnik Wheels, as well as the hood, trunk lid, spoilers, etc.
The guy that tipped us off to the sale of this car at Barrett Jackson and who knows a thing or two about the auction scene guessed that the car will bring $118,000. What’s your guess?
What will the Hot Rod 1 Camaro bring at the Barrett Jackson auction?

I must have been hiding under my rock when they built that ’cause this is the first time I’ve seen it. As much as I’m not into ’69 convertible Camaros, that’s a really nice looking car. I’m guessing it will go for at least 125K.

I may be wrong about this, but aren’t all Dynacorn bodies made in Taiwan. In my opinion that makes them an abomination.
The Dynacorn bodies come with ‘for off-road use only’ disclaimers. Is this road legal? Muscle Car TV built one of these tto.
