Friday Excuse to Go Home Early and Drink: Gov’t Hopes to Have Dealers Paid by the end of September; Year Not Specified

The phrase, “Close enough for government work” is ringing true recently. The row over getting car dealers paid for their Clunker trade-ins seems to have finally been settled and now the Feds claim that dealers will be paid by September 30th. Commence breath holding.

The good news is that the speed of the reimbursements will not be helped along by more efficient work processes, computers, or any other aid. Nope, this will be done the old fashion way, by putting thousands of people on the job. Yep, we just checked too and this isn’t China.

The dealers have been waiting for cash since the program started. It’s not uncommon to see dealers in the Boston area with dozens of cars just clogging the place up and nowhere to put them. It seems now that they can get on with the greusome business of killing the engines with the liquid glass.

Here’s a USA Today piece on this news.

While you’re reading that we’ll be preparing the keg for proper pumping volume and pressure.
