Friday Excuse to Go Home Early and Drink: They’re Finally Building Freaking Camaros!

Normally in the Friday Excuse column we’re sending you home from the office to drain mugs of brew due to some bad news, but stop the presses, we’re doing shots in celebration! New Chevy Camaros (albeit preproduction models) are rolling off an assembly line.

Oshawa, Ontario, Canada is the home to the plant doing the finally assembly on the Camaro and with this first batch of cars to come out of the plant, we can see the end to the excruciatingly long buildup for these cars.

True to form of this weekly blog entry we’ll point out the bad news which is that these cars are hitting the market at literally the worst possible moment. Every month seems to bring worse and worse sales news from all automakers and the Camaro is certainly not a family hauler or other mainstream form of transportation that will sell in major volumes. It’s also not the type of ecomobile that the government seems closer and closer to mandating.

You know what though? We’re going to raise our glasses to the General and wish ’em luck on this. Hopefully there are enough people who’ve been squirreling cash away for the several years this saga has been dragging on to actually buy one.
