Nope, we don’t play weird sorcery games with our pals. The Tail of the Dragon is a road, and a serious one at that. The 11-mile stretch of US highway 129 that runs from Deals Gap, North Carolina, into Tennessee is packed with 318 corners. Yes you read that right, 318.
The posted speed limit is 30 mph, and apparently there is some patrolling of the area by Johnny Law, but man, it sounds like a heck of a fun deal to carve up. Lots of people ride it on motorcycles, and that’s great for them, but we’d like to give it a spin in a tightened up musclecar or (gasp) a repowered British sporty car.
The winter may be a fun time to blast it WRC style in an all-wheel-drive screamer, but there’s also the increased risk of using your hot rod as a chainsaw and unintentionally removing trees from the forest.
Have you hit this piece of macadam madness? Does it live up to the hype?
