German Cash For Clunkers Program Ends Early

The German government has announced the end of its Cash for Clunkers program earlier than expected as the program, much like the one here in the USA, cooked through its alotted cash a lot more quickly than was planned.

The German program resulted in the sale of more than 2 million new cars over the course of its eight-month life span. That country is also suffering through a major recession. Despite that, new car registrations are up more than 30 percent this year. That’s mostly attributed to the sales made through the program, and its what gave our government the idea to replicate car-purchasing welfare here.
