Our pal Darr Hawthorne dropped us a line to let us know that the lucky guys over a MaxChevy.com got a guided tour of GM’s Wind Tunnel at the Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. The awesome news in this story is the fact that the tunnel can now be rented out, although the rates are a wee bit steep.
The wind tunnel has never been open to the public before but has been used for testing production cars, all kinds of race cars and even a few “special” projects along the way. There are some great photos and inside information in the story as well as the contact information for the guy at GM you’d need to speak with to get approval and book time to use the wind tunnel.
General Motors is obviously looking at every option to make money, and utilizing stuff like the wind tunnel just makes sense.
