Big Iron: The GMC M135 Scene From Rambo: First Blood – Malaise Era Mopars Going Down HARD

As you well know by now, we love army trucks around here. You also know that McTaggart loves weirdo malaise-era Mopars, so we found the perfect matchup of both of those things. Why is it perfect? Because it features a 1951 GMC M135 deuce and a half killing malaise-era Mopars. McTag is going to stab me in the face for this. I’m actually ashamed that it took me this long to actually feature the scene here on BangShift.

There’s a 1979 Chrysler Newport that’s all up in Rambo’s business with a couple of coppers attempting to shoot our hero. Then there is a car parked at the side of the road that is apparently filled full of C4 and gasoline. A little hip check and those guys are taken care of. The real payoff here comes during the road block where we see just how tough an old 1950s era rig can be. As you will see, this thing hits/jumps the cop car and keeps on rolling like it just got a kiss on the chin. Truly impressive stuff for a truck that was already 31 years old at the time this movie was made. Yes, this is an early 1950s deuce and a half. Wacky, right?

There is the perfect amount of Stallone dialogue here which is zero. Just a load of concerned looks, side glances, and sneers to make the whole thing as perfect as it can be. The smashing conclusion is the real payoff. They don’t make them like they used to…which is a good thing in the case of both army trucks and malaise-era Mopars.
