Good News: Supporters of Social Circle, Georgia, Drag Strip Form Group to Fight Opposition

Here’s some good news on the on-going saga over the proposed racing complex in Social Circle, Georgia. To this point all of our reportage has been centered around the group formed to sink the project before it got off the ground. We’re happy to report that another group has formed for the express purpose of supporting the project.

“The Citizens for the Motorsports Complex” had their first official meeting on January 17th. According to the reports we have seen, the group is composed of town residents and racers who would use the facility.

Donnie Clack is the guy trying to build the drag strip/motorsports complex and he spoke at the meeting to educate people what his plans were for the facility and what the positive effects of such a place could be for the community. He acknowledged that some of the concerns of the residents were valid and he was working with engineers to address them, but he, like us, believes that many of their fears are overblown by massive proportions.

The group meets again this coming Tuesday. If you live in the area and see the value in this project, participate!
