GT2 Class C6R ‘Vette to Debut Tuesday; Germans and Italians Urinate Pants

GT2 Class C6R ‘Vette to Debut Tuesday; Germans and Italians Urinate Pants

The Corvette C6R racing program has been a GM bright spot for several years. The cars were competing and completely dominating the GT1 category of road racing at events like Lemans, the Dayonta 24, and all the other big ticket road races around the globe. It got to the point that they were essentially racing themselves. A new model is coming Tuesday for the GT2 class, and like Kurt Russell (as Wyatt Earp) says in the film Tombstone, “Hell’s coming with it.”

The new car (NOT pictured here, this is the previous GT1 model) will be styled off of the ZR1 and no one for sure knows what it looks like as of yet. Making the class change to GT2 places the Corvette in direct and immediate competition with the Porsches and Ferraris that have been class stalwarts for years. It’s the deep end of the pool.

Outside of all the information that will transfer from the GT1 program, there’s another intangible on the side of the Corvette. A group of engineers with something to prove. These are proud people working for a company that has been battered recently and there’s not doubt that some jagoff in tight pants is leaning on the fender of his Modena telling his buddies that the Corvette guys are going to get run under. To that we say, “Oh, HELL no.”

The car debuts in competiton on August 8th at Mid-Ohio Raceway and we predict that this machine will be coming out of its corner fighting. Ferrari and Porsche, that sound you hear, closing rapidly from behind you, that’s GM telling you to get the F out of the way.
