Hellcat, Now In Screaming Passengers Edition-Charger Will Get Mopar’s Newest Mountain Motor!

Hellcat, Now In Screaming Passengers Edition-Charger Will Get Mopar’s Newest Mountain Motor!

This was speculated ever since the Hellcat rumors started spreading around, but now that the SAE paperwork for a Hellcat Charger was discovered, it’s confirmed. Charger mules with the nose cones masked off have been seen testing around Auburn Hills recently as well. While a six-speed version is questionable, even doubtful, those lucky (…..)ers that have already driven the Hellcat Challenger have confirmed that the eight-speed TorqueFlite trans is a beauty. And with launch control handy, it isn’t like the typical buyer (think Christian Bale in American Psycho) is going to mind all that much. It actually sounds like the perfect car to take Junior to school in…fast enough to keep him entertained, raucous enough to piss off a ton of SUV and minivan-driving parents.

Currently, the only true competition a Hellcat Charger has is the Chevrolet SS, which is low on power but has a proven chassis and is getting the trick suspension bits and a six speed, and a couple of very irritated Germans who have been playing this fast four-door game for a while now. Something tells us that somewhere deep in an office in Bavaria there is a feeling of coming revenge for everything that Mercedes did to Mopar during the “merger of equals”. And it looks like Dodge has their sights aimed right at the AMG lines.

In the restructuring of the Chrysler product lines, Dodge became the performance brand, re-enveloping the SRT team. But there’s no doubt that Dodge is not only cranking out fast rides, but is apparently hell-bent on becoming the top dog wherever they can be. Here’s to continued momentum, we’re loving it.

Why wouldn’t it be the new Super Bee, since Road Runner’s were Plymouths, and not Dodges?

The Hellcat is the SIZE of the Dart! Honestly, what I’m waiting on is for the Dart to take aim right at Subaru with the pipe-dream AWD SRT-4 style concept. Basically, give us Pastrana’s RallyCross Dart in a street-legal form. I’d love nothing more than to see Subaru fans freak out after a Dodge spanks them at their own game.

Now make it a wagon and I’m sold. That new Charger front end looks like an update to the old Magnum. And also offer the Hellcat as a crate motor for the Mopar faithful.

How about going back to a 2 door Charger and Dart with this package? Instant NHRA Super Stock player, and botu would be killer Street Machines.
