There’s something about “twin-turbo Viper” that just makes us smile. Sure, we’re no closer to ever driving one than when these things started rolling off of the assembly line, but the Viper is one of those cars that lives simply because it can…there’s no true purpose to the car except to go fast, scare the driver and passenger into mute submission, and to keep insurance agents awake at night in constant fear, and that’s just in the from-the-factory form. Bolting two turbochargers onto the 8.4L V10 creates a monster that makes a stock Viper look pretty damn pedestrian by comparison, and that’s no small feat.
This isn’t just achieved by slapping the turbos onto the car, either. RSI uses twin 72mm Precision turbos (with optional 75mm hair dryers available!) to achieve the boost, but a whole host of engine and drivetrain upgrades, as well as engine management tunes and improved engine components are available, as is a 8.7L stroker kit. On 93 octane pump gas, power is just north of 1,000hp and 900+ ft/lb of torque. On E85 you’d be looking at 1500+hp. No, that isn’t a misprint. That is a Viper that can cause you to uncontrollably void your bowels at part-throttle if you are even the least bit stupid with the gas pedal. And while it’s even more out of our range than a stock Viper, we’re glad that people are still tuning the hell out of the snake.
