Here, Kitty, Kitty: The Ford Shelby GT350 Has Started To Roll Off Of The Assembly Lines

The patience of Ford fans who have been waiting for the new S550-based GT350 and GT350R can finally be quelled, as Ford has started rolling the angry version of the Mustang off of the Lime Rock assembly plant lines. The Shelby GT350, complete with the 5.2L flat-plane crank V8, magnetorehological suspension technology, and an honest-to-God six speed manual transmission, isn’t the straight-line vision-warping stomper the outgoing GT500 was, but instead is meant to blur the line between surgical track weapon and a sledgehammer wielded by a very, very angry man in Ford blue. We’ve heard this thing howl. We saw how wicked it’s evil twin, the GT350R, looked as former TopGear Stig Ben Collins launched one off the line at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, howling like a demon while the rear tires scarred Lord March’s driveway. And soon, we will see how they do in the hands of the public.

The only thing that would have made this good news better is if Bill Ford had driven GT350 #0001 out of the door, into the parking lot, and proceeded to immolate the tires.

With Chrysler melting the tires off the hellcat any opportunity they get I am surprised the other guys haven’t tried the same thing. I think the mustangs even come with a factory line lock. Is that because they can’t overcome the rear brakes?

They’ve already been spotted roaming the Downriver area here outside of Detroit. Have a friend that stumbled across a black one a few days ago, and I about got run off the road by a white one this past Wednesday. Both with M plates. Doesn’t sound as Demonic as the R, but still sound very nice.
