Hero in Bulldozer Saves 32 Houses During Forest Fire

People react differently when placed in life or death situations. Some panic and run, but others bare down, focus, and put fear aside to get the job done. Luckily, for homeowners in Herriman, Utah, Kevin Williams is one of the “focus” types because he managed to save almost three dozen homes by working a D9 Caterpillar bulldozer to create a fire line that allowed fire fighters to knock the fire back.

At times, the ‘dozer was nearly enveloped with flames on one side and on the edge of a rocky cliff on the other. Amazingly, Williams did his work without causing damage to any of the neighborhood properties. One may assume that if a house were damaged to save 30 more, that would still be a pretty decent ratio. What Williams did was pretty incredible.

Williams has been rightfully honored as a local hero and a recent visit to the ‘hood he saved was filled with personal thank yous from the home owners.

Great equipment operators are hard to come by. We’d say Kevin Williams qualifies as one!
