It’s official! Beech Bend Raceway Park, in Holley’s hometown of Bowling Green, Kentucky, will be the location of the first Holley LS Fest, September 10-12th 2010. We’re excited about LS Fest because, in typical Holley fashion, it’s going to be a wild weekend full of events. We talked to Bill Tichenor from Holley about the announcement, and he was quick to point out that LS Fest is a lot more than just a drag race. And since it is being held at one of the country’s most beautiful racetracks, we wouldn’t miss it.
When we talked with Holley’s CEO Tom Tomlinson and asked him about LS Fest, his eyes lit up. Tom is a real deal car junkie, and a station wagon enthusiast to boot, so it’s no surprise we love hanging out with him. While talking about LS Fest, Tom said, “We are just a bunch of gearheads that love GM LS engines and this event will allow us to celebrate these remarkable engines with other GM LS engine enthusiasts. It will be a serious event, but we also intend to have a lot of fun.” We don’t doubt it.
Drag racing action is sure to attract top LS-powered race cars and street machines from around the country. Drag racing classes will be based on rules that are currently under development, but are very likely to closely follow previous LS-based drag racing events. There will also be a baddest of the bad, bring it on, anything goes LS class where Holley hopes to see the World’s Quickest and Fastest LS pass. If it’s LS powered, it’s welcome at LS Fest.
An Autocross, 0-60-0 speed stop challenge, a show and shine, and with cruises and prizes means there will be something for everyone, and we’re excited to see it all. Tom and Bill told us that Champions will be crowned for each class of competition, along with a Grand Champion who attains the highest overall score from all the event activities. In addition, Holley will host a manufacturers midway and an official cruise through the beautiful Kentucky countryside. As usual, BangShift.com will be there to bring you all the latest and greatest event coverage, video and photos.
