Hoped-for Pony Car War in NASCAR Nationwide Series Looks Like a No-Go

We’re sure that they are shocked beyond belief in Daytona that the Big Three have not all done backflips to get their pony cars into the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Ford is the only one who has committed, GM has said no, and Chrysler…well, no one knows what the hell Chrysler is up to.

We think it is pretty great that at least one of the companies, and possibly two of them, have actually said, “enough is enough.” The NASCAR “Mustang” is awful looking and has a weird cro-magnon look in the front, with a rear end that bears no resemblance to any Mustang ever produced or that will ever be produced (we hope).

The ultimate egg-on-face moment will come if/when Ford sees what’s happening elsewhere and decides to stick with the Fusion head light stickers.

Here’s a story from The Chicago Tribune that lays it all out on the table.
