We got wind that the massive “traditional hot rod and custom show” known as the Hunnert Car Pile-up is moving for 2010. The show has been held in Morris, Illinois, recently but will find a new home in Decatur, Illinois, at the nearly 400 acre Progress City complex. With more than 1,000 cars attending the event at 15,000 people, they need all the room they can get.
The late season event, held in October caters to ’50s and ’60s vintage hot rods and customs. We’d recommend not showing up with your blingy ’69 Camaro on 20-inch wheels. They may ask you to leave by love tapping it with 3-pound hammers.
The Chrome Cazars motor club, based out of Chicago, run the show with Catherine Mayotte and a ton of volunteers. Those volunteers are necessary considering the Chrome Czars club has just nine members.
There are parties planned all around the Decatur area during the show and folks from all around the globe are flocking the event, which is one of the premier showcases of the traditional rodding scene. You can participate too, you just need to fit all the “criteria” and not have a car newer than 1965. It’s their sandbox, they can make their own rules.
