Hurst Viper Breaks the Bank at B-J

Hurst Viper Breaks the Bank at B-J

As previously reported, Hurst is going back to the signature-car biz with the Hurst 50th Anniversary Viper. Like Hurst’s anniversary, not Viper’s…but it’s a natural , right? Serial #1 was destined for the auction block at Barrett-Jackson this month. As it turned out, the car set a record for the highest auction price of a Hurst vehicle in Barrett-Jackson history. That’s right, a gold Viper with bolt-ons for $250,000 after auction fees. Some of the cash went to charity.

Check out Hurst’s Press Release below. Oh, and if you want to buy one, call or email Bill Pemberton. Tell him the boys at the Junkyard sent ya.

50TH ANNIVERSARY HURST/VIPER BREAKS THE RECORD AT 2009 BARRETT-JACKSON

The Highly-Collectible Serial #1 Hurst/Viper Coupe Sells for a Record-Breaking $250,000

The Serial #1 50th Anniversary Hurst/Viper sold for a record-breaking $250,000 at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson auction. The highly-collectible Viper, built by the Woodhouse Auto Family and Hurst Performance Vehicle Group, went for the highest price ever for any Hurst vehicle or Viper at a Barrett-Jackson auction.

The Serial #01 Hurst/Viper – first of only 50 to be built –  features the new Hurst HARD-DRIVE® gold pistol-grip shifter, massive black chrome Hurst wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, Corsa exhaust and Moton Club Sport adjustable coil-over suspension with Eibach springs. In honor of the Golden Anniversary the vehicle is finished in a stunning satin-gold paint with gloss black stripes. The interior features custom Hurst logo floor mats and a special Katzkin charcoal leather with Hurst embroidered logos, gold thread detailing and perforated leather inserts.

A portion of the proceeds from this unprecedented sale benefits a new Victory Junction camping facility for children for chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses to be built in Kansas City. “On behalf of the 700 Woodhouse employees I would like to express the pleasure of presenting the Victory Junction with a check for $125,000 – profits from the sale of the first limited edition Hurst/Viper,” said Lance Pittack, President of the Omaha Metro based Woodhouse Auto Family. “It’s fantastic that this Hurst/Viper brought the highest price for the marque and gave us an opportunity to donate a significant amount to a worthy cause.”

Joining Woodhouse and Hurst Performance Vehicles with donations for this vehicle are suppliers Moton Suspension, Michelin Tires, Corsa Exhaust, Katzkin Interior, Starwest Floor mats, Coverking Car Cover and Acsco Products.

“The Hurst/Woodhouse Viper is an amazing collaboration and the resulting donation will provide life-changing camp experiences for many children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses,” added Pattie Petty, co-founder of Victory Junction. “Kyle Petty and I are so grateful to Hurst Performance Vehicles and the Woodhouse Auto Family for their generous support of new Victory Junction camp location in Kansas City.”

Upcoming production Hurst/Vipers are available for individual order exclusively through Woodhouse Dodge. Contact Bill Pemberton at 1-800-889-1893 or [email protected]
