We were cruising AutoTraderClassics recently and cam upon this car which we can only describe as the marriage of a donk and a rat rod. While it is true that old cars had large diameter wheels back in the 1900s, they weren’t made by Chip Foose and they certainly were not painted red. This heavily channeled 1928 Ford Model A looks kind of weird with 24″ Chip Foose wheels at all four corners.
The rest of the car is pretty normal. A tunnel rammed 302 provides the power with a couple of 450 cfm Holley carbs feeding the engine. Originally a sedan, the body has been shortened and a pickup bed has been added. Surely a sedan couldn’t have been as cool as this contraption. It would obviously look bad with the giant wheels…oh wait.
It is just tough to see where the owner was going with this thing. For instance the front end has a straight axle with a suicide transverse spring, and coil over shocks. If you were going to invest in coil over shocks wouldn’t you put independent front suspension on it.
We’re all for rods that handle, but this thing looks kind of weird, or maybe it is just us?
